The artist carve these individually by hand, in a free-hand letter style developed for durability and readability. Due to the very nature of wood, all pieces are unique. Color variances and grain differences are inevitable and appreciated. It’s a form of Marquetry which differs from the more ancient craft of inlay, or intarsia, in which a solid body of one material is cut out to form the wooden designs.
